Calgary Event Photojournalist | NWU/Enhance Stampede Party

Diana Cape from Spotlight Strategies contacted me about documenting the Stampede party they were organizing for North West Upgrading and Enhance Energy last week. It was held at the private Wild Buffalo Ranch and the Canadian Museum of Making. Of course, I googled the venues right away, but all I could find for “Wild Buffalo Ranch” related to salad dressings haha. Needless to say, even though I’d been to a few Stampede parties in my time, I wasn’t sure quite what to expect. It turns out that the venue was actually the home of one Mr. Ian MacGregor, who carved out the museum in a bunker underneath his sprawling estate! I wanted to make sure I did justice by the location as much as the event itself, hence this super long post 🙂 It was a BEAUTIFUL day, and thankfully, the rain stayed away until the party was over. Thanks to Drew of DRG Photography for second shooting for me this day.
^^Hey, it’s my favorite drink! 😛^^That’s Mary, the steam engine – the special “little” lady that kicked off the museum projectHey it’s Mr. Handsome himself! 🙂 He wanted me to Photoshop some hair on his head, but he wouldn’t go for the flaming red color I suggested…This guy was saying: make sure you get my good side! Our lovely planner, Ms. DianaI don’t know what they were talking about, but look at the pretty sunflowers! 🙂Aww it’s Troy and Lisa! I LOVE these newlyweds 🙂Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach was in attendance – I think his security guards are used to me by now haha!Isn’t this lady gorgeous? I told her she looked like Wonder Woman (my superhero growing up). She looked at me like I just came from the funny farm.Umm I have a bit of a shoe fetishYou just KNOW he was talking about this fish that was THIS big! Heheh sorry, hubby is Icelandic and fishing is kind of part of our lives 🙂Meet little HayleyHob-nobbing with the PremierShe looks sooo impressed hahahaha! 🙂Yes, I really loved this totally spontaneous moment, but I also loved that it gave me an excuse to include a plug for Mr. Potty. Mr. Potty rocks! And flushes. Every outdoor event needs Mr. Potty! So long, pardner

SUCH AN AWESOME PLACE! It looks so, so peaceful and serene and breezy. I don’t know what a stampede party is, but I would now like to go to one. 🙂

What a totally cool location! When I was younger, my parents always took me to hoe-downs and other such events and I never felt like I would fully appreciate them until I moved away. And now I’ve moved away and this looks like a ton of fun. =)
